Solidarity with migrants and refugees
An update on our recent Lent collaboration project together with 8 parishes and Doctors Without Borders (MSF).
Inspired by the Catholic faith, Caritas Penang is the church in action – reaching out to the poor, vulnerable, excluded, and marginalized regardless of race or religion, to build a world based on justice and fraternal love.
Lent is a time of prayer, fast and almsgiving. This year, we gave RM145,000 to 29 parishes in the diocese to help them carry out charity works to help the poor.
In Caritas Penang, our works are rooted in prayers in order to offer love and care for the unloved. We are not an NGO but a church who hear the cries of the society and attend to the need of the people. These are the areas of humanitarian works that we are currently doing.
The source of spirituality for Caritas is the life and ministry of Jesus Christ, his actions, his words, his very person, who went about doing good, healing the sick, returning sight to the blind and proclaiming the Good News of salvation, revealing to us the infinite love of his Father and our Father. Thus, basic human rights such as the right to food, education, shelter and health care have always been at the core of our advocacy work and actions.
Inspired by the Scriptures and the tradition of Catholic church.
To live in a spirituality of the encounter
Guided by the social teaching of church.
Towards the kingdom of God in solidarity with the poor.
Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.
In Caritas Penang, we fulfil our mission by reaching out to men and women, children, youth and elders of all races and creeds, in particular the poor and marginalised; providing social services, saving lives, rebuilding and empowering communities, working for justice and integral human promotion.
A task that mobilises Church leaders at all levels, parish groups including the poor themselves, volunteers and professionals, in collaboration with other civil society actors, public institutions and international institutions.
Inter-deanery, inter-parish, inter-ministry, and networking amongst all the social mission arms of the diocese working together with one common mission and vision which is to bring the heartbeat of Jesus in every aspect of the works of charity we do.
We leave no one behind. Contact our representative or visit any Catholic church if you are in need of our help.

A great start. I do personally feel it is quit short. It was a great experience being able to learn from the TZU CHI visit. So blessed to know that we are together in bringing God's love and cpmpassion to others.
