The word Caritas is Latin for Love and Charity. As the charitable arm of the Catholic Church, Caritas spearheads the Church’s social mission. Our mission is to respond to humanitarian crises, promote integral human development, advocate against the root causes of poverty and violence, and empower and engage youth for mission.
Working alongside 29 parishes across Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak, and Kelantan, we coordinate programs to deliver essential aid and services to those most in need.

How we celebrate the Season of Creation and World Day of Migrants and Refugees in 2025?

On 5 September 2025, the Feast of Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta, Caritas Penang held a day of prayer, recollection, and planning with Lighthouse and St Joseph’s Home.

Caritas Church of Christ The King initiated a soup kitchen in 2023 to address the homeless and urban poor issues in Sungai Petani. Today, this project attracts volunteers from other faiths to serve a hot meal to the hungry every Saturday.

In 2014, Church of OMPH saw the need to help the underprivileged children in their studies, the volunteers persisted in this mission for more than 10 years, and today many children are already graduated from university.

After attending a forum on Refugee Crisis, Risen Christ Catholic Church visited the refugee community and decided to assist and advocate for this issue. They started a project during Advent and help the congregation to understand the problems, then they proposed an outreach to visit and help them.
