Sharing Hope 2.0
Every month, Sharing Hope 2.0 from Cathedral of Holy Spirit mobilised members from different ministries. They reached out to the families of various backgrounds such as the elderly with little or no income, breadwinners who cannot work and undergoing cancer treatment and other circumstances.
The groceries are placed by generous parishioners and other well wishers at the basket outside the church office. Twenty volunteers regularly pack and distribute the sundries and more helpers come forward to assist on an ad hoc basis.

Caritas Church of Sacred Heart Kulim reached out to visit the poor families and bless them with food hampers.

Visit Migrants Villages
Church of Sacred Heart Kampar visits their migrant parishioners every year during Lent and celebrate mass in their villages. Most of them live very far away from church and deep in the plantation, so by visiting them, the priest is able bring Jesus to them, and them to Jesus.

Blood Donation Program
Blood donation is an act of mercy, but not everyone can donate blood due to health restriction. Many patients in the hospital are in need of our blood donation to survive. By giving generously our blood while enduring slight pain can help hospital to save life of others.

Crime Awareness & Prevention Program
Crime among school students is on the rise. Church of St Anthony Nibong Tebal noticed the social issue, together with Penang Diocesan Prison Ministry they organised an awareness talk to help youths and their parents better understand the problem and ways to act when they experience crime.

HIV/AIDS Awareness Program
Catechists and Catechism students from Church of Risen Christ Ayer Itam visited the HIV patients at Mercy Home. They were given an awareness talk on what is HIV and how to prevent this disease from spreading. Understand HIV/AIDS is important for everyone so that we may know how to treat HIV patients with care and love and at the same time give them the dignity of a child of God.

Fundraising for Social Mission Groups
Woman group from Cathedral of Holy Spirit host a fundraising activity to sell foods on the 5th Sunday of Lent. They did this for the poor and the sick who are currently receiving treatment at Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital and Persatuan Kebajikan Haemodialisis St Anne BM. A total of RM17000 was raised, the money will be sending to the social mission groups mentioned above as part of Lenten almsgiving.

Lenten Formation
Church of St Joseph Bagan Serai organised a Lenten formation for the parishioners. Fr Stanley Anthony gave a talk to help everyone to grow spiritually. It is important for Catholics to understand that God is spirit and when we worship God we must worhip him in spirit and truth.

Visit Orang Asli Village
Caritas Church of Divine Mercy together with Fr Mark from Kuala Kangsar went on a mission to visit the Catholic parishioners who are of Orang Asli descendants. They spent time together in Mass, fellowship, sharing stories and playing fun activities together. Lent is a time for us to remember our brothers and sisters who are far away and share our foods and hopes with them.

Outreach with Parish Priest
Parish Priest Fr Arul sets a good example for the parishioners by bringing the youths to visit the sick and needy together. Youths helped giving rations while their priest prayed for the sick and gave holy communion to those who can’t come to the church.

Love Squad Team organised a clean up event nearby the area of Church of Our Lady of Good Health. Youths came forward to cleanup their surrounding neighbourhood.

Blood Donation and Dental Checkup
The blood bank is running critically low in Penang and many patients in the hospital are relying on blood to survive. Lent is a time for renewal, a season for us to hear the cries of our society and take action to offer ourselves to help those in need in whatever way we can.

Paint and Repair Houses of The Poor
Caritas Church of Divine Mercy collaborated with Chinese Apostolate to organised an outreach program to help poor families in Butterworth. They offered themselves to paint and do minor repair for them. A seed of caring is planted in the heart of those who helped and new friendship is formed through this activity.

Home and Hospital Visit at Kangar
Youths from Chapel of The Holy Cross Arau visited those who are hospitalise at Hospital Tuanku Fauziah, Kangar. They comforted the sick and wished them speedy recovery. They also visited the elderly people nearby the chapel as an act of love.

The Soap Moulding session at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit Penang. Parishioners from both Chinese and English mass, Haven Youth Ministry, Love Squad and others came together in this simple but meaningful act of love. The soaps will be distributed to various prisons.

8 hours famine camp at Ipoh
Youths from Church of St Michael Ipoh organised a 8 hours famine camp to feel the struggling of the poor and the hungry. They offered up their fasting experience with prayer for the poor, they learned to appreciate food better and hopefully the would know to give or share their food to the homeless and the hungry.

Meet and Greek with Old Folk
Chapel of The Holy Cross Arau invited old folks from Rumah Sri Kenangan Kangar over and had a fellowship lunch with them. They played games, performed a show, chit chat and had lunch together.

Soup Kitchen at Penang
Agape Meal members and the catechist from Cathedral of The Holy Spirit Penang came together to cook food and deliver them to the elderly people. Agape Meal is having their soup kitchen once a month to bless the elderly who live nearby the church.

Medical Outreach at Gerik
Youths from Taiping Catholic Church and Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Ipoh went to the Orang Asli village together. This is a collaboration medical mission between Sahabat Orang Asli, Hospital Fatimah and the Catholic church.

Make Soap for Detention Centre at Ayer Itam
A soap making project was carried out in collaboration with Caritas, following Sunday morning mass. The project involved various groups of people, including the Parish Soap Ministry who mainly helped coordinate the project with all the technical aspects, parishioners and youth, as well as RCIA candidates, all of whom came together to make the project possible with the help of God’s blessings.

Lenten Pilgrimage at Arau
The faithful from Chapel of The Holy Cross Arau had an one day Pilgrimage tour to Chapel of Immaculate Conception at Sungai Batu, Minor Basilica of St. Anne at Bukit Mertajam, and Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, at Penang. The trip begins with a mass at Arau, rosary at Sungai Batu, eucharist adoration at Bukit Mertajam and end with praise and worship at Penang.

Beach Clean up at Bayan Lepas
In response to our Pope’s calling to Care for Our Common Home, Caritas Penang together with our good friend – Buddhist Tzu Chi Merits Society of Malaysia, we organised a beach clean up event and invited faithful Catholics, Buddhist volunteers, College students and Religious Friars to join us. We hope that through this event we can raise a greater environmental awareness in the Catholic church and encourage more people to have a heartfelt repentant to change and care for God’s creation.

Soft Launch of NCSM - Caritas Homes of Hope
National Cancer Society Malaysia, Simee Old Folk Homes, and Caritas Penang are collaborated to provide a half way home for underprivileged cancer patient and their family members who undergo cancer treatment in GH Ipoh and could not afford for a place to stay. We provide free accommodation and basic amenities for the tenants.
